Meet Our Founders/Who we are

 Founder & Executive Director 

Safiya Davis is the Founder and Executive Director of Nest & Bloom Community Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and mothers in recovery through education, wellness, peer support, advocacy, and connection to community resources.

With more than a decade of experience in human services and case management, Safiya has spent much of her career supporting individuals and families as they navigate complex life circumstances. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW) while completing the educational requirements toward becoming a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).

Nest & Bloom was created from both Safiya’s professional experience and her own lived experience with recovery and motherhood. Her personal journey strengthened her understanding that recovery is about more than abstinence—it is also about rebuilding identity, restoring confidence, addressing mental and emotional wellness, creating stability, and having a community that reminds women they do not have to navigate the process alone.

As a mother, advocate, and woman in recovery, Safiya is passionate about creating the kind of supportive community she believes women deserve: one rooted in dignity, compassion, empowerment, and genuine human connection.

Her long-term vision for Nest & Bloom is to develop a comprehensive network of recovery-centered services where women and mothers can access peer support, education, wellness programming, clinical and community resources, family support, and safe, stable housing.

For Safiya, Nest & Bloom is more than an organization—it represents the belief that women can heal, rebuild, and create meaningful lives beyond the chapters they thought would define them.

 Vice President

 Susy Herve serves as Vice President of Nest & Bloom Community Alliance, bringing creativity, leadership, organization, and a strong commitment to community to the organization’s growing mission.  A New York City native and graduate of Park West High School in Manhattan, Susy’s journey has been shaped not only by where she comes from, but by the experiences, responsibilities, and lessons that have helped her grow into the woman, mother, entrepreneur, and community leader she is today.  As a creative entrepreneur and graphic designer, Susy understands the power of turning an idea into something meaningful. She brings that same mindset to Nest & Bloom—helping transform ideas into programs, initiatives, community outreach, and systems that support the organization’s long-term vision.  As Vice President, Susy works alongside Founder and Executive Director Safiya Davis and Michal Roberts as part of a collaborative leadership team committed to building and strengthening Nest & Bloom Community Alliance. Together, they help develop community initiatives, expand outreach, build meaningful connections, and create opportunities that move the organization’s mission forward.  Susy is especially passionate about creating opportunities that allow women and mothers to feel supported, encouraged, connected, and reminded that their current circumstances do not determine what their future can become.  She believes that leadership does not always begin with a title, degree, or perfect résumé. Sometimes it begins with showing up, being willing to learn, using the gifts you already have, and choosing to make a difference wherever you can.  Her vision for Nest & Bloom is to help build an organization that women and families can genuinely depend on—a community where resources are accessible, support feels personal, and every woman who walks through the door knows there is room for her to grow.  For Susy, serving as Vice President is an opportunity to pour her creativity, determination, and life experience into something bigger than herself while working alongside Safiya, Michal, and the Nest & Bloom team to create a lasting and meaningful impact within the community. 

Director

Michal Roberts is a dedicated advocate, community professional, and lifelong supporter of children, families, and individuals navigating difficult transitions. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and has devoted her adult life to helping others find stability, support, and opportunities to build better futures.

Early in her career, she worked as a case manager in an adolescent residential setting, serving as a liaison between residential programs, the justice system, local Departments of Social Services, and multiple educational entities. In this role, she helped coordinate services and create pathways for youth to successfully transition from residential care back into their communities.

Today, she works with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), within Child Welfare and Community Services, continuing her commitment to supporting children, families, and communities.

Her professional experiences have shown her the profound impact that connection, advocacy, resources, and a strong support system can have on a person’s ability to rebuild their life. These experiences, along with her passion for community and recovery, inspired her to become a Co-Founder of Nest & Bloom, an organization dedicated to supporting women and mothers in recovery.

Through Nest & Bloom, she is committed to helping create a safe, compassionate community where women feel seen, supported, empowered, and never alone. Together with the founder, Safiya Davis, she hopes to provide women with the resources, connections, peer support, and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives, strengthen their families, and truly bloom in recovery.
